Inspirational Artist: Peter Sheeler

Today I came across the work of this amazing ink/watercolor artist named Peter Sheeler. I highly recommend watching his process and work through his YouTube channel (you can get there by clicking on his name above).
Lately I have been working on improving my own artistic skills and finding my own style. To do this, I am drawing everyday and trying to pinpoint what it is that catches my attention about the work and process of other artists. As much as I admire people that produce super realistic/hyperrealistic work, there's something about art that is slightly sketchy and raw that I really love. There is a lot of personality in Sheeler's work. I really hope to be able to incorporate some of these characteristics in my work some day!
Visit his YouTube channel to learn more about him and his work HERE.

He's so talented! I love the looseness of his work and really aspire to be able to capture scenery like that someday! Subscribed to his YouTube channel as soon as I found him. :) Do you also work primarily with watercolors?

I am quite new to watercolor painting and recently I have begun to search for some tutorials and inspiration over the web. I came across Peter Sheeler videos on YouTube and became instantly addicted to his fantastic watercolor work. His line and wash skills are wonderful, full of character and so simple in presentation and he uses few brushes and colors. He has done a special series on portuguese urban subjects and I am following these particular videos for my future reference. It is also amazing how many times I read people stating they learn a lot with him and how they would be happy to reach his level. Another point worth mentioning, is the rather simple and relaxed way he uses to teach us all, without too much talk and too much technicalities but instead, he give us the opportunity to learn while he practices his wonderful art.

Peter Sheeler is, indeed, an amazingly talented and inspiring artist. I'm really drawn to his style myself and am so thankful that he's putting his process out there for us to learn from.

I wish you much progress and enjoyment in your watercolor painting journey.

I'm curious is Peter related to industrial artists and photographer Charles Sheeler?
