The school I work at has a wonderful tradition each year in which different cultures and nationalities are celebrated. Each grade learns about a specific country and one classroom of each is decorated for the big event. Whichever grades are taking Art during second semester works on projects for the fair in my class as well.
This year, I had Second Grade doing Japan and Fourth Grade doing Germany, and we decided to help out by making traditional dishes out of modeling clay. During the development of this project students constantly viewed pictures of food in order to replicate shape, color and texture. Yum!
